Subterranean termites are the most common, and can be found in all 50 states. They are the number one wood-destroying pests in the U.S. They are known as subterranean because they live underground and in colonies. They build tunnels known as “mud tubes,” which they use for their food source and protection. Like other termite species, they feed on products containing cellulose.
In the U.S. alone, the annual cost of termite treatments and damages is estimated in the billions.
Pre-treats
Most structures built in South Carolina are treated against termite infestation during the construction process. These preventative termite treatments are commonly referred to as “pre-treats.”
Various parts of the structure are treated as they are ready and before pouring of slabs or covering of wall voids. It is also important to bear in mind that treatments cannot be made under conditions where soil is water-saturated.
No one likes pests in their home. There’s no question, though: of all the potential bugs that you might have to deal with, bed bugs are amongst the worst.
Even determining whether or not you have bed bugs in the first place can be a challenge. They’re incredibly small, hard to see, and generally only come out at night to feed. On top of this, they tend to hide in places during the day where they’re hard to spot, including your mattress, chest of drawers, and baseboards. Plus, bringing bed bugs home from a hotel, friend’s house, or even a city bus is easier than you might think.
Bed bugs are an incredibly stubborn pest, and total elimination may not be possible with a single treatment. It’s important to follow all of the recommendations provided by your Home Pest Control professional. Depending on the degree of infestation, we may schedule a follow-up visit to determine whether further bed bug treatments are needed.
We provide prompt, professional pest solutions. We are licensed, bonded, and fully insured.
The crawlspace is often one of the most undervalued areas in a home. Most homeowners do not understand that the well being of their crawlspace affects the overall health of the entire home. Not only is the structural integrity of the crawlspace important to the rest of the home, but the moisture level in the crawlspace also affects other parts of the home. Keeping your crawlspace dry is one of the biggest steps you can take to make sure that your home is healthy for you and your family. CMAC Pest Control provides all of the necessary services to prevent excess moisture from entering your crawlspace.
Why is it so important to have a dry crawlspace? There are a few reasons that keeping your crawlspace dry is a vital part of home maintenance. First, if water collects in your crawlspace, it could cause mold and mildew to grow on the damp surfaces. This may not seem like such a big deal, since you probably do not spend a lot of time in your crawlspace. However, what most people are not aware of is that much of the air that they breathe throughout the home comes from the crawlspace.
What is a CL-100 (Termite Letter / Termite Inspection / Wood Infestation Inspection)? A CL-100 is actually much more than a Termite Letter. It is actually the Official South Carolina Wood Infestation Report. A CL-100 can only be performed by a Qualified, Licensed South Carolina Inspector. The inspector is required to carefully inspect for Termites, other Wood Destroying Insects, and Fungi. The inspection for fungi or fungi damage commonly called water damaged wood rot or decay is limited to the areas below the first main floor of the structure. This report specifically excludes hidden areas and areas not readily accessible.
If there is any evidence of active infestation or past infestation of termites or other wood destroying insects or fungi, it must be reported in this letter. Any visible damage in the accessible areas will be reported in detail. Many banks, lenders, and buyers will require any problems be corrected before buying a property. If there are problems that need to be corrected we will quote the work to be done at the time of doing the CL-100. Sometimes a qualified contractor may need to provide their opinion on whether there is structural damage to the property.
Wood moisture content is another big thing that is being looked for when performing a CL-100. A properly vented crawlspace should read a moisture level of 19% or lower. If over 20% there will probably be some type of moisture control required. This could be anything from opening vents to needing a moisture barrier installed.

It’s important to be aware of these facts:
The house mouse is a small, but an incredible mammal. They cause so much damage, carry diseases and attacks your food.
The house mouse, Norway rat and Roof rat are rodent species that mature quickly. If infestations aren’t dealt with promptly and professionally they can reproduce quickly and disperse significantly. Rats compared to mice don’t eat a lot. A mouse will eat about one tenth of an ounce of food per day. Rats can eat 1 to 3 ounces of food daily.
The home territory of a mouse can stretch 10 to 30 feet or more. That of a rat in city streets can stretch 90 to 450 feet. The reason there is such a wide variance in distance is simply because when food is abundant, the rodent will stay closer to that source. When it is scarce home ranges can increase.
